Gender Confusion- What is a Real Man?

Part Seventy-four in a Series.

Would you agree that the world or culture is against REAL men and women? Much of the world, especially Western culture, is drowning in gender confusion. What is a REAL man or a REAL woman? How would you teach that to a child or anyone searching for an answer? The consistent message from the pseudo-intellectuals is there is no real difference between men and women, except for some body parts. Even worse, you can ignore the body parts and “identify” what you are.

The desire to neutralize or eliminate the gender distinctions and differences God has hardwired into human beings.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.(Gen. 1:26–27)

is blatant and constant.

The confusion is a work of Satan to distort God’s creation. It is effective because the lies are promoted through what is good. The lies ride on the back of truth and good values. It is like mixing poison with a healthy meal. Satan can quickly hook you if you do not stand on the firm foundation of God’s Word.

A man, is a human biological male, who has developed in the following ways:

  • He can be honest without fearing another living soul.
  • He can secure his loved ones from harm.
  • He can make decisions with confidence.
  • He can model forgiveness and exercise judgment.
  • He knows what he doesn’t know.
  • He takes advice from others and considers it wisely.
  • His strength doesn’t give him control, it gives him power; which he measures and applies when needed to win the hearts and minds of his family.
  • His mind is used to provide, protect, and bring peace and safety.
  • His sweat is from hard work, not a hard lie to remember.
  • His sexuality is there to please his wife.
  • His sense of humor is meant to lift up, not tear down.
  • He doesn’t have to cheat to survive.
  • A man takes what’s given him and deals with it. He’s not afraid to ask for help, but that may not be his first choice.Man is a person and is therefore capable of making moral choices.

In Christian theology, the tripartite view (trichotomy) holds that humankind is a composite of three distinct components: body, spirit, and soul.

After the creation of Adam every living creature was brought before him to receive its name; he saw that to each had been given a companion, but among them “there was not found an help meet for him.” Among all the creatures that God had made on the earth, there was not one equal to man. And God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.” Man was not made to dwell in solitude; he was to be a social being. Without companionship the beautiful scenes and delightful employments of Eden would have failed to yield perfect happiness. Even communion with angels could not have satisfied his desire for sympathy and companionship. There was none of the same nature to love and to be loved. PP 46.1

God Himself gave Adam a companion. He provided “an help meet for him”—a helper corresponding to him—one who was fitted to be his companion, and who could be one with him in love and sympathy. Eve was created from a rib taken from the side of Adam, signifying that she was not to control him as the head, nor to be trampled under his feet as an inferior, but to stand by his side as an equal, to be loved and protected by him. A part of man, bone of his bone, and flesh of his flesh, she was his second self, showing the close union and the affectionate attachment that should exist in this relation.

    Psalm 8:4-8 NKJV

What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.

    You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet,
    All sheep and oxen—
Even the beasts of the field,
    The birds of the air,
And the fish of the sea
That pass through the paths of the seas.

In view of God’s handiwork and the limitlessness of His creation, David is awestruck by the Lord’s concern for human beings and the position He gave them to rule over creation. The all-powerful God of the universe cares so deeply for us that He made us only slightly lower than Himself (or, as some translations have it, than the angels) and gave us authority over His creation. Psalm 8:4 echoes Genesis 1:26 and the triune Godhead’s decision to create humans in His own image and likeness and give them authority over all of God’s creation. Both passages communicate a biblical doctrine—that from the beginning God made humans to be His representatives on the earth and to have dominion over every other creature in His name.

‘What are mere mortals that you should think about them, or a son of man that you should care for him? Yet for a little while you made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You gave them authority over all things.’ Now when it says ‘all things,’ it means nothing is left out. But we have not yet seen all things put under their authority. What we do see is Jesus, who for a little while was given a position ‘a little lower than the angels’; and because he suffered death for us, he is now ‘crowned with glory and honor.’” (Hebrews 2:6–9, NLT). The writer of Hebrews references the Old Testament passage to show that Jesus was truly human, God incarnatePsalm 8:4 was fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

Jesus humbled Himself and became a human being. In His earthly ministry, He was “a little lower than the angels” (Hebrews 2:79). As a man, He willingly experienced suffering and death, just as we do. But Jesus “tasted death for everyone” (verse 9, NLT). He took on our nature and became like us, but without the sin and rebellion that tarnish our existence. Through His death, Jesus broke the power of death for us: “Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying” (Hebrews 2:14–15, NLT). Jesus became a human and died to set us free from death.
